My Recommendations for the prospect.

This post goes over the areas that I believed I could help the client with.

Here is where I saw potential for improvement for this client:

  • A search Adwords campaign that was built by a “newbie” probably meant there was room for improvement
  • A basic content network campaign that was likely to have similar improvement potential.
  • Little effort to optimize the Google Places Page for the business let alone other local directory sites.
  • Very few inbound links to the site or on site optimization meaning a large upside potential for building up natural seo for the site.

My proposal to him on the first meeting was to optimize and manage his adwords campaign for free for 60 days after which he could continue with those services for $600 per month.  Additionally a SEO linkbuilding campaign that would be charged at a rate of $500 per month but only after his site reached the first page of Google for some of his important keywords.

To do this it would be necessary for me to get access to his adwords account.  I told him I would add his account to My Client Center account with Adwords which would allow me to view his account, install Analytics and Webmaster tools and start to plan his campaign improvements.

After several days went by and the customer still had not granted my access to his Adwords account, I started to worry that he had changed his mind. Because of the case study there was no financial risk to this client so I thought the deal was pretty much in the bag.

More next time on the psychology of a prospect's mind....
